Smärtrehab – början på nåt nytt

Detta inlägg innehåller ingen reklam än möjligen för den svenska sjukvården.
Det är ingen reseskildring – om vi inte räknar med hundratals resor till och från sjukhus.
Det är en enkel, avskalad personlig uppdatering av mitt hälsotillstånd, och vad jag har för trevligheter framför mig. 🙂
Den drygaste biten är klar – nu väntar början på nåt nytt.

För er som inte vet det, råkade jag år 2013 ut för en simpel men olycklig cykelolycka med rätt taskiga konsekvenser som resultat. Jag ska inte tråka ut dig med detaljer om det förflutna (du som vill kan läsa här) men det blev en del fysiska skador i huvudet och ansiktet: skador som fortfarande stör dagligen. Kanske inte hela tiden och det lär inte ta livet av mig, men det är irriterande nog för att göra något åt det.
Jag är kroppsligt färdigfixad i den mån det går, och utgången har ändå varit okej, tycker jag. Jag slapp bli ett kolli och jag lever än – det är en rätt hygglig utgång. Jag har de senaste 4,5 åren blivit rastad och rastat mig själv på Käkkirurgen, hos tandläkaren, på Tandvårdshögskolan, på Handkirurgen, hos diverse sjukgymnaster och ett otal vårdcentralsläkare (osv) och nu är jag klar.
I princip.
Det finns inte mycket mer att göra åt kvarvarande bekymmer mer än att acceptera faktum. Jag har en lagad kropp men blev samtidigt bjuden på en rejäl portion kronisk smärta, ansiktsnerver som är överkänsliga, ansiktsnerver som är döda, ledförslitning/artros och tänder som inte går att bita ihop på bägge sidor samtidigt.
Eller som journalen säger:
Huvuddiagnos: Rubbningar i käkleden
Bidiagnoser: Cervikokranialt syndrom, cervikobrakialt syndrom, annan kronisk smärta eller värk
Jahapp. Så är det.
Eller så kan de kalla det.
Jag är jag med lite mer skavanker, kort och gott.
Jag skulle kunna vara bitter och gnällig, och egentligen är jag nog det lite grann där innerst inne, utan att tänka på det. Eller sur kanske, sur för att jag stressade på så, att det gick så där illa. Oftast håller jag ihop mig, mest för min egen skull. Det är inte kul att vara sur, ju! Smärtan är den rest som är jobbigast att tampas med. Det tär på hela ens väsen att ha ont jämt. Jag har dessutom ont på olika vis.
Den molande värken som alltid finns där är den jobbigaste i längden. Blixthuvudvärken som kommer från ingenstans och försvinner lika fort gör mig illamående, svag och helt innesluten i mig själv. Ibland tänker jag på den som en kobra, som attackerar plötsligt och skoningslöst. Nervsmärtan i ansiktet har flera olika former och kaliber, lite som en oformbar, rörlig, värkande massa som ibland är som en elektrisk puls och ibland huggande som vassa knivblad, ibland stickande som nålar, och ibland krypande som myror. Käkleden låser sig och ger en sorts sprängande värk, helt olik de andra; lite som en mini-sprängladdning som detonerar och sedan klingar av.
Det har hjälpt mig att kategorisera de olika sorternas värk, hur konstigt det än kan låta. De har färger, de går att poängsätta på en skala och de har liknelser (”som en kobra”).
Jag tror att detta är mitt sätt att hantera det ohanterliga.
Att stå ut med det jag vill vara utan.
Att ha kontroll över det som inte går att kontrollera.

För en tid sedan skickade min dåvarande vårdcentralsläkare en remiss till Smärtrehabiliteringen i Lund.
Jag tänker på det lite som Hospis fast tvärtom.
Det är en form av sista anhalt, men inte för att dö utan för att fortsätta leva.
Eller börja leva på ett annat, bättre vis, kanske jag skulle säga?
Fast jag vågar inte riktigt hoppas på det. Än.

På onsdag är det dags för min sista introduktionsdag av det intensiva smärtprogrammet där jag – tillsammans med nio andra smärtpåverkade personer – på heltid under fem veckor ska låta smärtan ta en del av mitt liv, istället för att tänka bort den… samtidigt som den ska få ta mindre plats i mitt liv.
Motsägelsefullt, eller hur?
Jag ska lära mig leva med smärtan på ett annat sätt än jag gör just nu. Byta gamla strategier mot nya. Få hjälp av ett multimodalt team som kan smärtproblematik på sina fem fingrar.
Dessutom är det alldeles gratis.
Ett fantastiskt erbjudande!
Men samtidigt en riktig utmaning.
Hur flexibel är jag i min tanke egentligen, och hur villig är jag att förändra mig?
Och orkar jag jobba på det?
Det är faktiskt både läskigt och spännande på en och samma gång.
…men jag är modig.
Så jääävla modig!
